Parents Rights

September 14, 2016

It’s important for parents to know their rights during the special education process so they can fully participate in the planning of their child’s educational program and can be an effective advocate for their child. IDEA includes specific rights for parents of children with disabilities. These rights are called “Procedural Safeguards.” Whether you’re asking the school to evaluate your child or give special education and related services, there’s a legal process the school must follow.  Participants will learn about several important procedural safeguards and what they mean for you and your child.
