What We Do

As your resource center, we are here to provide you with the information you need to make decisions for yourself or your children with disabilities.  We like to consider ourselves a one-stop-shop for information, resources, education, training, and peer-to-peer support.

  • We answer questions and provide assistance for any disability, any age.
  • We can teach you to advocate for yourself or your child and over time, your child will learn to self–advocate.
  • We help you navigate support systems and overcome challenges in these settings.

INFORMATION AND RESOURCES

Raising a child with a disability or special health care needs requires lots of information and resources. We can provide you with all the information you need and direct you to the resources that provide the support you will need.  Additionally, our robust website offers many resources and Exceptional Times, our quarterly digital magazine is filled with great articles and information.  We are also very active on social media on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Workshops and trainings are coordinated and presented on topics relevant to the issues facing persons with disabilities and their families.  Topics include Basic Special Education Rights, Individualized Education Plans (IEPS), Transition Planning, Early Intervention, Discipline, Behavior Rights, Organizational Skills, Communication Skills, Special Needs Trust, Age of Majority Planning, Disability Specific Topics and more.  If you have a topic you think would be of interest to other families or professionals, let us know and we are always looking to provide new topics for you.

PEER-TO-PEER SUPPORT

Parents want to speak to other parents that have “been there and done that”. Our trained, knowledgeable staff is parents of children with disabilities or individuals with disabilities.  They are here to provide you with the support you need.
