I called Families Helping Families of Jefferson to speak to an advocate regarding continued barriers that my wife and I were facing regarding the educational placement of our son. Basically I felt like we were getting the run around and needed guidance regarding our son’s educational rights.
I was connected with Bebe Bode. Bebe and I discussed what had taken place with the school and then scheduled an appointment to meet and go over my son’s Individualized Education Plan.
I learned a great deal about the IEP process, document, its importance, and what steps I
needed to take to ensure my son received the appropriate placement and supports. During our meeting I was also educated and linked to home and community based supports that I wasn’t aware of.
I appreciate what Bebe did for me. I have always been a strong advocate for my son and feel even more empowered as an advocate after our meeting.
